Lake Wanaka Tourism is a Regional Tourism Organisation formed in 1993. The organisation is an incorporated Society which is membership based with over 340 member organisations.
A Board of six elected from the membership at the annual general meeting governs Lake Wanaka Tourism.
Lake Wanaka Tourism is managed by a General Manager, James Helmore and is assisted by a Marketing Assistant Tess Hellebrekers.
Lake Wanaka Tourism is funded predominantly from a tourism levy determined as a percentage of the commercial and accommodation rate and collected by council on behalf of Lake Wanaka Tourism.
Members are either commercial ratepayers or businesses who pay a subscription levy who have filled out the membership form.
Lake Wanaka Tourism also owns and operates the Lake Wanaka i-SITE Visitor Centre under a seperate limited liability company (Wharf Developments Ltd) and all profits are returned to Lake Wanaka Tourism for promotional purposes.
