Run Lake Wanaka's spectacular lake and riverside trails as part of the Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series.
Race 1: Hawea River Track. Albert Town to Lake Hawea with 5km, 10km and half marathon options.
The stunning riverside track is over easy country and links Lake Hawea township to Albert Town. The start and finish lines are on the opposite side of the swing bridge to the parking area. All races form a loop around the DOC Butterfields Reserve along the old Hawea River channel before heading out on the Hawea River Track. The track is well maintained although uneven underfoot in places and travels through kanuka groves, woodland and along river terraces. The half marathon will continue over Camphill Road.
All four races in the series enjoy spectacular scenery, exciting trails that wind their way alongside the region’s most stunning waterways and appeal to runners of all abilities.
The courses cover Wanaka's stunning tracks: the Hawea River Track, the Upper Clutha Track, the Damper Bay/ Waterfall Creek Track and the Outlet Track. Races 1, 2 and 4 are part of the Te Araroa - the national walking trail spanning 3000 km from Cape Reinga to Bluff.
There are prizes for place getters and plenty of spot prizes to ensure everyone’s in with a chance of winning.
