Lake Wanaka Events - what's happening.

The spectacular backdrop of Lake Wanaka adds a new dimension to any event and Lake Wanaka is home to some of the best in the world - sports, aviation, music, film, arts - you've got to be here.

From community celebration Wanakafest to the adrenaline filled moments of the international Challenge Wanaka triathlon, every season in Lake Wanaka hosts some of New Zealand’s most anticipated events. Whether you go solo in the Contact Epic mountain bike race or train with the family for the Big Easy, the elation of pushing your limits in this breathtaking alpine environment is a once in a lifetime feeling.

While Warbirds Over Wanaka is a rendezvous for aircraft enthusiasts the world over, it’s the Festival of Colour you’ll want front row seats for if you love theatre and the arts. The world’s elite snow sports athletes descend on Lake Wanaka in the winter for Winter Games NZ and the Burton Snowboard Open while open air Kiwi music festival, Rippon Festival, plays to sell-out crowds in the summer.
