Family Fun

Lake Wanaka, New Zealand is the perfect family holiday destination. Take the kids on a family holiday in New Zealand and base yourselves in Wanaka where there are things to do for the whole family. Wanaka has many attractions and activities suitable for families and children, and is the perfect family South Island destination.

Lake Wanaka has things to do for the whole family and is home to a number of unique activities and attractions that appeal to adults and children of all ages. There is plenty to do here with your family and it doesn't need to cost a fortune.

Suggested activities:

Voted in the Top 10 Weirdest Attractions in the world - Puzzling World is a must!
The National Transport and Toy Museum has something that will appeal to everyone in the family
Have A Shot is as challenging as you want to make it but the mini golf is always fun
The NZ Fighter Pilots Museum is a must see for an insight into our wartime aviators
Basecamp Wanaka is a great place for the kids to test their head for heights, while parents can either watch while having a coffee or compete against them on the Clip 'n Climb
Cardrona Adventure Park offer a wide variety of Quad / ATV Bikes, Buggy and Monster Truck rides to suit all
Cinema Paradiso is a must - check out a movie and the hot home made cookies and ice cream at half time

Free stuff:

Grab your bikes (or walk) and head out on one of many tracks - there's something to suit everyone.
Take a stroll down to the playground at the lake and have some fun
Bring some bread and head to the wharf to feed the trout and eels - and of course the ducks!
If you're after a bit of a challenge then take the kids and bikes to the Lismore Park jump park
Head to Eely Point or the lakefront and use one of the free BBQ's for a picnic at the lake.
Take the togs and head to Bremner Bay for a swim

Try some of our family friendly restaurants - the kids love Amigos and Lonestar is always great
Take the family to Oakridge for a night swim in the hot pools and spas
