About Wanaka

Four Seasons

Lake Wanaka is a true year round destination and enjoys an enviable climate with four distinct seasons.

While some activities are seasonal, most can be enjoyed all year round in Lake Wanaka and with a lower than average rainfall and high sunshine hours there's no excuse for lazing around... unless you choose to.

Summer (Dec - Feb) is the busiest time in Lake Wanaka when the boats, tents and caravans are taken out of hibernation and the holiday homes spruced up ready for the hot summer months to come.

Autumn (March - May) is without doubt the most beautiful season with a spectacular array of deciduous trees turning the region into a wonderland of colour.

Winter (June - August) is when the snow sport enthusiasts break out their skis and boards and get waxing ready for the powder days to come, and finally
