Mount Aspiring National Park, the third largest in New Zealand, stretches from the dense rainforests of Fiordland, across braided river valleys and alpine meadows to the glaciated Southern Alps. Below the snow line is a myriad of walking tracks winding their way through open valleys, native beech forests and alpine meadows with stunning views of hanging glaciers and waterfalls and even the opportunity for a close encounter with the friendly kea (native alpine parrot).

Day One

Westland National Park Day trip:

Drive through to Haast and see the mixed podocarp forests and take short walks to Blue Pools and Fantail Falls.
Travel south to Jacksons Bay through stretches of remote forest, spectacular rivers and coastline. Visit the fish and chip caravan at Jacksons Bay. Alternatively drive from Haast to Ship Creek (dune and forest walk, dolphins) and Knights Point.
Jet Boat trip to Keiran Falls or try the combo (fly-walk-jetboat) The Siberia Experience from Makarora.
Take a scenic plane or a helicopter flight over the Southern Alps

Day Two

Mt Aspiring National Park

Aspiring Hut over night trip with Rob Roy Glacier walk on the way out
Overnight in the Kitchener Valley (East Matuki)
Fly into Siberia Valley (Backcountry Helicopters or Southern Alps Air), stay overnight at Siberia Hut and walk or jetboat out (Wilkin River Jets)
Wilkin Valley / Rabbit Pass / East Matuki either freedom walk or with a guided group

Day Three

Mt Aspiring National Park

Wanaka River Journeys jet boat trip to Raspberry Creek and walk the Rob Roy Track to view the stunning Roy Glacier. If you are lucky you may see some kea, one of New Zealand’s native parrots.
Climb Mt Roy to get an amazing view towards the MANP or take a guided alpine lake heli hike with Eco Wanaka.
Enjoy the views over Wanaka with Ridgeline’s Wild Hills and Wanaka experience.
Kayak down the Matukituki River
Mountain bike to Aspiring Hut or one of the guided options with Free Ride
Canyon experience either up the Matuki Valley or Wilkin with Deep Canyon.
