About Us

About Us - Lake Wanaka Tourism
 
Lake Wanaka Tourism is a Regional Tourism Organisation formed in 1993. The organisation is an incorporated Society which is membership based with over 430 member organisations.

A Board of six elected from the membership at the annual general meeting governs Lake Wanaka Tourism. The Chair is Brent Harridge and the other board members are: Lyal Cocks, Leigh Stock, Paul Cooper, Mandy Enoka, Abhishek Saklani and Nadia Ellis..

Lake Wanaka Tourism is managed by General Manager, James Helmore and is assisted by Tess Hellebrekers (Online Executive), Geoff Marks (Business Development Executive) and Carla Munro (Content & Media Executive)

Lake Wanaka Tourism is funded predominantly from a tourism levy determined as a percentage of the commercial and accommodation rate and collected by council on behalf of Lake Wanaka Tourism.

Members are either commercial ratepayers or businesses who pay a subscription levy who have filled out the membership form.

Lake Wanaka Tourism also owns and operates the Lake Wanaka i-SITE Visitor Centre under a seperate limited liability company (Wharf Developments Ltd) and all profits are returned to Lake Wanaka Tourism for promotional purposes.
