Lake Wanaka Tourism Planning

LWT Annual Plan 2021/22

The Annual Plan has been informed by:

  • LWT Strategic Review process including input from sessions including LWT Board, members, community, Iwi, local community group leaders
  • Recognition that the visitor industry in Wānaka was on a trajectory that was unsustainable and not viable long term
  • The essence (māuri) and spirit (wairua) of Wānaka come from the people / community (tangata), the landscapes and natural world (whenua) and the things that we value and treasure (tāonga), which include our stories, history and natural treasures – therefore we need to have these things at centre of our planning and actions
  • MBIE Destination Management Guidelines
  • Tourism Futures Task Force Interim Report
  • Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment Report
  • Climate Commissioner’s Report
  • Presentations and direction from Central Government (including the Tourism Minister and Prime Minister)
  • QLDC Quality of Life Survey
  • QLDC 2021-2031 Ten Year Plan Draft Queenstown Lakes Spatial Plan
