Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow is one of the world’s great Warbirds airshows.

While WWII fighter aircraft are at the core of the event it features so much more. From 1930s classic aircraft through to modern fighting aircraft the airshow features both militiary and civilian aircraft of the past 80+ years.  The event is world-famous for its six hours of non-stop display flying set against the backdrop of the majestic Southern Alps.

The carefully choreographed displays seamlessly merge from one to the next backed up by commentary, music and pyrotechnics.  The airshow is more than just the aerial displays.

On the ground are numerous displays including our military re-enactor camps, WWII era singing groups, stationery engines, trade exhibits and a new Future of Aviation display. A visit to the the Royal New Zealand Air Force encampment is also a must.

Gates open to the event at 7.30 each morning and close at 5pm. Visitors are urged to arrive as early as possible to give them time to check out all the ground displays before the flying starts at 10am. There are numerous food and beverage outlets at the airshow catering for all tastes. The airshow is popular with a wide-range of people. It’s a must for all aviation enthusiasts but also attracts families from far and wide looking for a fantastic day out filled with colour, sound, excitment, entertainment, education and more.

An added bonus is the opportunity to book a flight in an aircraft from a Tiger Moth to WWII fighters through to more modern jets. Tickets to the airshow are on sale now via Ticketek.
