Wanaka Arts has been exhibiting art for 40 years, so join in and celebrate our Ruby Anniversary over 4 days in the Labour Weekend Art Exhibition extravaganza. Art auction, artist discussion with Grahame Sydney, live music, local unique art for sale.
A 4-day Labour Weekend art exhibition extravaganza is opening at the Lake Wanaka Centre on 24th October with canapes, drinks and live music from 5pm.
Ticket entry costs $20 to the Awards ceremony and inaugural Art Auction hosted by Gavin Vize. Going under the hammer are works by much loved Central Otago artists: Deidre Copeland, Gus Watson, Suzie Ruddenklau and Jane Sinclair. Proceeds from the auction will purchase a sculpture for the shoreline of Lake Wanaka.
The Lake Wanaka Centre will be filled with works by guest artists: Lynley van Alpen, Scott Johnson, Johnny Mayen and Gus Watson with demonstrating artists Melissa Sharplin and Wanaka Woodworkers Guild working, inspiring and teaching throughout the weekend. Wanaka Arts members will vye for awards being judged by Gary Mahan and Clare Thomas-Moore to the value of $4450.
A new feature of the exhibition will be the cash and carry Gift Shop. Saleable items are: jewellery, pottery, ceramics, sculptures, cards and packs of cards, woodwork, textiles and small unframed art work.
