Tuesday, April 2 to Sunday, April 7
Known as New Zealand’s best little arts festival, the Southern Lakes Festival of Colour takes place over six exciting days and nights in April, and this year the events spill over into four additional days.
The festival is held biennially and brings an outstanding programme of local, national and international arts to the Southern Lakes region, including world-class music, dance, theatre, visual arts and the ever-popular Aspiring Conversations. While based in Wanaka, shows and events also take place in Hawea Flat, Bannockburn and Queenstown.
The 2019 Festival of Colour features performances by three major national arts companies - the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Royal New Zealand Ballet and, making their debut in Wanaka, The New Zealand Dance Company, together with a New Zealand exclusive performance by baroque music superstar Jordi Savall, four of New Zealand’s best theatre works, a vibrant music programme based in the gorgeous Spiegeltent, the Pacific Crystal Palace, and a free street theatre day
