Make your own quality knife, from high carbon tool steel. You will temper and harden this knife, so it can be sharpened and maintain a working edge. Finished with brass bolters and a beautiful wooden handle, it will be shaped by you to fit your hand.
Having been fishing and hunting for over 40 years I have an understanding and appreciation of the form and balance that is required to ensure a knife is more than a piece of steel. Let me guide you to making a quality knife, for hunting, fishing, or for general purpose, that you can be proud of.
We have a number of shapes to choose from, to suit your purpose, and the fit of your hand. You will start with a steel blank, mark out, drill, cut, shape the blade before heat treatment and tempering. You will then prepare the handle and brass bolster before assembly, sanding and sharpening of the blade.
Seeing someone start the day with, or without any knowledge of knives and metalworking, yet finishing with their own hand crafted knife gives me great pleasure.
Bookings are essential due to only two people at any one time. This is to allow for assistance during the day.
We cater for only 2 people at a time to ensure quality supervision and instruction. A group of 3 can be booked
by special arrangement but there will be a need to share tools.
