The Spirited Women – All Women’s Adventure Race is an event where teams of four women travel together in a team, navigating with map and compass around a secret course on foot, mountain bike, and kayak.
Welcome to the Spirited Women – All Women’s Adventure Race, where women team up, train and have an absolute blast of an adventure together, side by side all the way.
The Spirited Women – All Women’s Adventure Race is an event where teams of four women choose from a short, medium and long-course adventure. Travelling together in a team, they must navigate around a secret course on foot, mountain bike, and kayak, completing a few surprise mystery activities along the way. The provision of stable sit-on tandem kayaks are provided for all teams and all levels of fitness and experience are welcome.
Given teams are required to navigate an entirely new secret course, the event travels the country visiting new North and South Island destinations each year. Due to every region being very different, the event changes from one year to the next. Some years, we have a more structured course (trek, kayak, bike) and other years we have had all disciplines a number of times in different orders. It all depends on the canvas we have to work with. If it’s your first or your seventh Spirited Women, it’s always a very fresh and exciting adventure experience.
The course is kept a secret until the Friday of the race weekend. Once your team receives your map/s, course notes, and briefing instructions, you have the evening to plan and prepare. On race day, your team needs to navigate your way around the course visiting checkpoints in the order specified (sequential or any order) on each leg, changing disciplines and participating in mystery activities along the way.
The Spirited Women is far more than creating an unforgettable event experience shared among girlfriends; it’s about women making time for themselves, their health and fitness. For many participants, the journey to the event is the most cherished part. Regularly getting together as a team to train, learn new skills, and supporting one another to push their boundaries. It strengthens bonds and relationships, bringing family, friends and work colleagues together for a weekend of unadulterated fun.
“This event defines the spirit of a kiwi woman – her give-it-a-go attitude, sense of adventure, a strong belief in her girlfriends and a desire to help them through difficult times and celebrate the good times.” – The spirit of a kiwi woman.
