1 December to 28 February
Average temperature 24°C

When you arrive in Wanaka for a summer visit you’ll notice a couple of things pretty quickly. It's usually nice and warm, with an average summer temperature of 24 °C and that there’s no humidity.

This makes it perfect for doing all the great outdoor activities on offer like walking and hiking, biking and boating. Keeping cool is easy - with kayaking, paddle boarding, wakeboarding, canyoning or just taking a swim at one of the many beach spots around the lake edge.

A long twilight means the fun doesn’t have to stop until well after 9:00 pm, giving you plenty of time to enjoy all the activities on offer or to just sit back and soak it all in.
