Native birds, farm animals and majestic scenery all around you
Farm and nature tours are a great way of seeing the diverse landscape of the Wānaka region.
Farm tours run all year-round, with every season offering glimpses into a different part of farming life. Watch lambs, calves and fawns in spring; witness the sheep shearing in early summer and in autumn watch in wonder as the shepherds and their teams of talented farm dogs muster stock from the highest peaks and gullies in preparation for the coming winter.
For the nature enthusiasts, take a guided tour and be introduced to some native wildlife and flora. Did you know fifteen native Buff Weka were re-introduced to the islands on Lake Wānaka in 2009 and have gone on to thrive and become attractions in their own right. Almost as cheeky and fearless as their more famous Kea cousins, a visit to Mou Waho Island to see the Weka is a Wanaka must do - but hold on tight to your biscuit!
