2. Cross-country skiing

Snow Farm, near Wānaka, is the only dedicated cross-country ski area in New Zealand. The 55km of groomed trails are perfect for beginners and experts alike.

3. Heli-skiing & boarding

With the best ski and snowboard terrain in New Zealand, the vast and diverse terrain around Wānaka offers superb conditions suitable for intermediate to advanced skiers. Southern Lakes Heliski and Harris Mountain Heli Ski have over 40 years experience and 700+ runs.

4. Snowshoeing & Dog Sledding

If you don't ski or you want to do something different then try snowshoeing and dog sledding and explore the high trails at Snow Farm

5. Snow Fun Zone

The dedicated Snow Fun Zone at Snow Farm is a great place to have some fun in the snow. Throw snowballs, build snowmen and make snow angels, then head over to the Tubing Hill for as much fun as you can handle! 

6. Overnight in a back-country hut

An overnight adventure in a backcountry hut is an experience not to be missed, but planning and preparation are key to a safe trip. Snow Farm has three backcountry huts which have gas cookers, log burners and firewood as well as a small range of cooking and cutlery equipment. Bookings are essential.

9. Glacier landings

With over 100 permanent glaciers in the mountains surrounding Wānaka, a scenic flight with a glacier landing is easy. This option allows you to experience winter all year round!

10. Après-ski

Once the sun sets and you're off the mountain, then the real fun begins. Après-ski Wānaka-style can be as sophisticated or simple as you like. Hang out at the food trucks, drink craft beer, head to a winery, eat at award-winning Kika or head to a bar and swap tall stories about neck deep powder.
