This beautiful private apartment sits on an elevated site, with a king of the castle- 270’ degree view over majestic landscape, encompassing both Lake Wanaka and the mountain ranges of the New Zealand Southern Alps.
The roof & flooring are made from Welsh Slate brought to NZ with the pioneers, as ballast in their early sailing ship. The tiles were first used for 100 years on Dunedin’s St. Hilda’s College roof.
This one bedroom retreat has its own private entrance leading to a recycled staircase that was salvaged from the Seaman’s Mission building- also in Dunedin. The house and apartment feature stained glass windows and doors, all with historic connections.
The apartment was built in the early 2000’s using the same skilled architect and techniques used for the original Kauri House. It was built with our guests in mind and features an open living/dining area with expansive views, kitchen facilities for light cooking complete with a BBQ on the deck and an extremely comfortable bedroom with en-suite. Perfect to hideaway with your partner in summer, autumn, winter and spring.
