To make the most of your time in Wanaka you need to plan ahead

Getting to Wanaka is just the first part of your spectacular journey. By air, bus or self-drive, getting here is easy. Queenstown International Airport is the gateway to the Wanaka region, and is just a scenic 60-minute drive from Wanaka. Queenstown Airport has regular flights from all major Australian cities, as well as daily services from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Once you land, there are a number of transfer options available; including rental cars, private transfers, shuttles and the regular bus services.

All the major rental car companies are based at Queenstown airport and Wanaka has a number of rental car companies to select from as well. 

There are daily bus services between Wanaka and Christchurch, Dunedin, Te Anau and the West Coast including Fox and Franz Josef Glacier. 

A number of local companies provide transport to the Mt Aspiring National Park, ski areas and various points of interest including walks and cycling tracks, making it easy to travel around the region.

If you have your own vehicle then you can explore Wanaka on a self-drive day trip and discover all the region has to offer.
