Walk the length of New Zealand and stay in Wānaka
Te Araroa Trail is an epic 3,000km length of New Zealand trail from Cape Reinga at the top of the North Island to Bluff at the bottom of the South Island. The trail takes in spectacular New Zealand landscapes from beaches, volcanoes, forests through to cities, and officially opened in December 2011.

With a wide range of tramps or hikes available, from the challenging Motatapu Track to easy strolling alongside the Hāwea and Clutha Rivers or around Lake Wānaka itself.
Make the Wānaka region a definite stop off on your trip - relax and stock up before heading on your way again.
