Working from home (WFH) was so last year. 2022 is all about collaboration and connection.

For the past couple of years many of us have been required to WFH and while there are some obvious perks, namely staying in your pyjamas all day. The downfalls are the lack of  human connection and interaction which can have a negative impact on motivation, creativity and well-being.

The silver lining of what has been an unusual time is that the shift towards remote work is here to stay! Which has benefits for employees, employers, and the environment. So while the global head office may be in Lake Hāwea, Auckland, Sydney, London or Singapore you can balance your lifestyle by being based in Wānaka and make those meetings and calls from one of our four coworking spaces.

New kids on the block

General Service is a new shared workspace hub in Wānaka. They are committed to productivity, community and collaboration. Creativity runs through their veins. You can see it as soon as you walk through the hand painted doors. The space has character, and the people are relaxed and friendly. You’ll mostly work alongside local illustrators, photographers and freelancers. Start your morning with a cuppa from their very own Good Spot coffee-window.

Their daily rate is $40(NZD) or you can opt-in for a 5-day flexi pass for $180(NZD). Looking to host an event of some creative kind? Hit up the General Service crew.

A space for start-ups

The Cell is a shared workspace that celebrates entrepreneurs, start-ups and professionals. You’ll find the wee-hub located just on the outskirts of the CBD, which means plenty of parking. Start your work day with a coffee and scone from Good Spot caravan. Or travel a few hundred metres down the road to Dripping Bowl food truck or Freshlink Grocer. The ambiance is the antidote to a Cell; it’s earthy, with plywood finishing’s and oak trestle desks.

Only need a Hot Desk for half-day? You can rent one for only $15(NZD). Or do you need some space and quiet of your own? Rent an office space for $180(NZD).

Really good company

Despite their name suggesting otherwise, Bad Company is a sought after workspace. They initially established themselves in Tauranga, and birthed their Wānaka space in early 2021. They are a modern sanctuary for remote workers, digital nomads and independent hustlers.  Attracting those who value work-life balance, friendly banter and expansive connections. The space is clean, minimalist and fur-friendly; BYO pet.

Desks come with a real lake view (no need for that lame screen saver anymore) and start at $5(NZD) an hour  in the lounge or $9(NZD) an hour at a designated desk. They have a heap of other offerings, that can be booked through their app. Conveniently located downstairs is Paloma taqueria and bar. BC gets a daily delivery of dangerously good Pembroke Patisserie treats. And if you still aren’t convinced, they offer a free day trial!

Bottomless coffee

The Engine Room reel people in with their free coffee and lake location. They are perfectly positioned in the Wanaka CBD, offering both Hot Desks and Resident Desks. Their shared workspace is clean, well-lit and professional. The location allows you to take a quick dip in the lake on hot summer days, or grab some Kai (food) from Big Fig, Alchemy and Black Peak Gelato to name just a few that are right on their doorstep.

If you are a visitor to Wānaka you can rent a Hot Desk for only $40/day. However, if you are looking for something more long term, rent a Resident Desk for $145/week instead.
