Winter

1 June to 31 August
Average temperature 10°C

Winter arrives in early June with colder temperatures - it's a spectacular season when the mountains are transformed by the first snowfalls.

Without doubt, Wanaka is the best place to enjoy everything that winter has to offer. Three ski fields with cross country skiing, tubing, tobogganing, fatbiking, dog sledding, ice driving and even snow shoeing

You don’t need to be a winter sports fan to enjoy Wanaka in winter, as plenty of activities operate all year-round.

Indoor options include the Transport and Toy Museum, Warbirds and Wheels, Puzzling World and the towns two incredible cinema experiences.

When night falls, just put on a warm coat and get out and enjoy some of the après ski scene with plenty of local beers, wines and spirits to sample.
