Wanaka Artisan Market

For a little town with a relatively small farmers market we have more than our fair share of artisan producers (which makes us very happy!). Here's 5 tips to help you get the goods!

If you are in Wanaka on a Thursday afternoon make sure you head to the Wanaka Artisan Market. Here you will find everything locally made scrumptious cakes, award-winning breads, pastries, and more.

1. Arrive early

If you have a sweet tooth make sure to arrive early – the custard squares from the team at Pembroke Patisserie disappear fast. But if you miss out - consolation is on hand with an incredible selection of other baked goods, along with their award- winning Gingerbread Biscuits that saw them selected as finalists in the Cuisine Artisan Awards 2016.

2. Make it special

Have an occasion that requires cake? Head to the Peppermint Kitchen stall for creations that taste every bit as good as they look.
Plus they sell by the slice... even better!

3. Step up your bread game

Get your daily bread and find out what all the fuss is about. The People’s Bread just took out Supreme Runner Up at the Cusine Artisan Awards 2016!

4. Looking for a healthy kick start

Revive is batch brewed Kefir Water, made in Wanaka by a young start up business. The only difficult part is deciding which flavour to choose.

5. Go nuts

Have a hankering for handpicked roasted nuts? Village nuts have you covered (during winter) with chestnuts and hazelnuts from the shores of Lake Wanaka, roasted on the spot so you can munch them while they’re piping hot.

The Wanaka Artisan Market is held every Thursday from 3pm until 6.00pm right in town centre alongside Bullock Creek and is one of the few markets in the region that runs year-round.
