Ripe, the Wanaka Wine & Food festival is making its debut appearance on Wanaka’s event stage on Sunday, March 21st during the Otago Anniversary Weekend.
In truth, this article does seem a little redundant. We mean, the name says it all Ripe, the Wanaka Wine & Food Festival.
Wine.
And food.
Need we say more?
Alright, for those who still aren't convinced, here are our top three reason why you should just go ahead and book in that festival ticket now.
Very few of the world’s wine regions can compete with the exquisite wineries of Central Otago. Here, the soil, topography, environment, climate and conditions all work in perfect unison to create the most delectable wines.
Pinot noir is the wine for which our region is most famed and it’s notoriously difficult to grow (some have even gone so far as to nickname it the ‘heartbreak grape’). However, winemakers in Otago have knocked it out the park, managing to create unique and sophisticated blends, while picking up a few awards along the way.
While Ripe is excited to welcome incredible wineries like Amisfield, Akarua and Wanaka darling Maude, we certainly can’t forget about all of the delicious vendors that will be at the festival.
New kid on the block, B Effect Brewing (who have recently opened their brewery and taproom B Social in central Wanaka) will be there. Also in attendance, lake-to-plate icon Hook.
Remember, it’s still early, so check back to the Ripe website as new vendors get added!
It wouldn’t be a festival without a little boogie! Catch informative masterclasses with the likes of Nadia Lim and then dance the day away with epic musical acts from the likes of the Jordan Luck Band!
Ripe is going to be an incredible showcase of Otago’s award-winning wines, delectable foods and talent. To learn more and purchase tickets, visit Ripe, the Wanaka Wine & Food Festival. See you there!
